Canadian Pacific Railway and Unifor have ratified a new four-year labor agreement.

Unifor Local 100 represents approximately 1,200 of CP’s 2,100 locomotive and freight car mechanics, electricians and apprentices who work across Canada. It’s Canada’s largest union in the private sector, representing a total 315,000 workers.

“We thank Unifor for working collaboratively with us throughout this process,” said Keith Creel,  president and chief executive of Montreal-based CP. “Ratifying this agreement, especially in time for the New Year, is a positive step for our mechanical employees, our 13,000-strong CP family, customers and the broader economy.”

The current collective agreement negotiated in 2015 was set to expire on December 31, 2018. Current negotiations had begun in October.
