Rail and track material provider Birmingham Rail & Locomotive Co. (BR&L) recently announced that it has acquired Austintown Rail Supply (ARS), a supplier of switching materials and other railroad track products.

ARS is now set to serve as BR&L’s Austintown, Ohio, location. It has retained ARS’s 10 employees, and the company expects to add three or four employees to support a new crane rail operation in the area, which will supply rail and accessories for overhead cranes.

“Austintown has been a reliable supplier to BR&L’s railroad track business for many years, and its Midwest location will strengthen our presence in the northern United States,” said Jo Ann Cary, General Manager of Birmingham, Ala.-based BR&L. “In addition to serving our railroad customers from this new location, we will open a new facility here for our crane rail business.”

“This transaction reflects Stucki’s plans to continue growing through acquisitions and product line expansions,” said Bill Kiefer, President and CEO of BR&L parent company A. Stucki Company. “We remain very excited about the opportunities BR&L has added since we acquired this business in late 2018.”
