Association of American Railroads (AAR) Senior Economist Luisa Fernandez-Willey will host “U.S. Freight Railroads and the U.S. Economy,” the League of Railway Women’s (LRW) inaugural webinar in its new “Railroading 101” series.

The Nov. 27 free webinar “will provide an overview of U.S. freight railroads, current trends in rail traffic and the U.S. economy,” LRW said. “In addition, various policy issues of relevance will be highlighted, including a discussion of how those matters impact the economic outlook.”

LRW members and non-members are welcome to attend this webinar. Attendees may register at https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/4518041007563675650 to receive a confirmation email with information about how to join the webinar.

“The webinar will be valuable for those new to the industry as well as people looking to broaden their understanding of rail industry operations and issues,” said LRW President Tanis Peterson.

At the AAR, Fernandez-Willey is responsible for conducting quantitative and qualitative research and analysis on economic and policy issues affecting freight railroads. Additionally, she is responsible for assisting with the data collection and production of several AAR publications. Most recently, she managed the analysis for Economic and Fiscal Impact Analysis of Class I Railroads. She is a graduate of Kingston University-London and the University of Missouri-Kansas City. In 2017, she was selected as a Railway Age 10 Under 40 honoree

The League of Railway Women is a nonprofit, membership-based organization committed to improving the railroad industry by connecting women in rail.
