At Railway Age’s Eighth Annual Rail Insights Conference, to be held virtually June 23, GATX Executive Vice President and President, Rail North America Paul Titterton and Railway Age Financial Editor David Nahass will talk about pressing issues facing the equipment finance space.

Titterton and Nahass will engage in a “Fireside Chat” style conversation. “GATX is a long-term growth and stability investor in a market with assets that have incredibly long useful lives,” says Nahass. “One thing that is interesting about railcar leasing is that it is a fairly low barrier of entry marketplace. How does one resist the urge to try to consolidate some of the fleet that comes up for sale to try to decrease competition, especially after a period of frothiness? Over the past 12-18 months, there have been many significant transitions out of the market by both long-term leasing players and some newer, private equity money in the market. Does that suggest that the market is getting healthy after a period of over-inflation, or that there is still too much liquidity in the market?”

Their conversation is just one part of the Rail Insights 2022 Conference, which will explore what is affecting business growth, capital investment, technology, regulation, service quality and safety in the North American rail market—freight and passenger.

Also on the lineup are such industry leaders as Union Pacific Chairman, President and CEO Lance Fritz; CSX Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Jamie Boychuk; Watco Companies CEO Dan Smith; Amtrak President and CEO Stephen Gardner; and Surface Transportation Board Chairman Marty Oberman. They will talk with Railway Age editors William C. Vantuono, Don Itzkoff and Nahass about key strategic challenges, issues and trends.

In addition to its speakers, Railway Age’s Rail Insights 2022 Conference is being supported by a number of sponsors: CSXTrinityRailUnion PacificWatcoAmsted Digital SolutionsLoramSiemens, and The Greenbrier Companies.
