Track Tri-Rail trains with new SFRTA app

The South Florida Regional Transportation Authority (SFRTA) has launched a new free app, “Tri-Rail Tracker,” that allows passengers to know the exact location of their Tri-Rail train and when it will arrive at their station.

Using GPS, the app’s map shows exactly where all Tri-Rail trains are located during all hours of operation. Tri-Rail Tracker lists the trains that will arrive at the next station, their direction (north or south) and the track on which they will be arriving. Passengers can also get alerts regarding system activity that could possibly impact their commutes. Described as “straightforward and user-friendly,” the app superimposes the Tri-Rail system map on top of a Google map, showing a train’s precise location.

ETA SPOT developed the app for Tri-Rail. Search “Tri-Rail” on the App Store to find and download it.

“The technology was not available a few years ago,” said SFRTA Deputy Executive Director C. Mikel Oglesby. “We will continue to monitor and advance customer service to new levels. This new innovation will enhance the SFRTA’s ability to more effectively communicate with passengers and the general public. We believe that, if we take modern technology and couple it with good old-fashioned face-to-face customer service, we will be providing what the riders have been asking for. They spoke and we listened.”

In addition to the Tri-Rail app, train tracking information is readily available on the Tri-Rail website, www.tri-rail.com.
