RailComm tapped for Alliance Yard
Written by Douglas John BowenFairport, N.Y.-based RailComm said Friday it has provided a yard control system, as well as remote control blue flag protection, to a yard in Alliance, Neb.
The yard is now able to wirelessly control 65 switches, 5 derails, and blue flag protection on 23 tracks using RailComm’s Domain Operations Controller (DOC®) system, RailComm’s RADiANT data radios, universal switch machine/blue flag controller, and blue flag indicators.
The DOC software-based control system is an advanced command, control, communications and information (C3i) server-based platform that supports a wide variety of integrated solutions for indication, control, access and distribution of critical operational data across the corporate enterprise.
RailComm’s 2.4 GHz Spread Spectrum RADiANT™ data radios will be used to establish a wireless communications network linking each automated switch machine back to RailComm’s DOC System, the company said.
