NYAB names execs to engineering, quality and program management posts

New York Air Brake has appointed Bill Kleftis Vice President of Engineering and Dr. Karen Tichenor Vice President of Quality and Program Management.

Kleftis is responsible for all engineering resources associated with the design of NYAB products. He a track record of bringing successful new products to market through proven stage gate principles. Prior to joining NYAB, was responsible for product design and development as well as operations at Carlin Combustion Technologies. He is a graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and earned an MBA from Babson College.

Tichnor PR 300ppiDr. Tichenor (left) is responsible for leading improvement initiatives that enhance operations and reduce costs at NYAB. She is experienced in building corporate value for international capital equipment manufacturers and customers. Prior to joining NYAB, Dr. Tichenor held positions at Aquion Energy, Ansaldo, and Bombardier Transportation, overseeing Quality, Health & Safety and Business Performance programs. She is a graduate of North Carolina State University, holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, and is a Six Sigma Black Belt.

New York Air Brake Corporation, a Knorr-Bremse company, is a supplier to the freight railroad industry of air brake control systems and components, electronically controlled braking systems, foundation brakes, training simulators, and train handling systems. The Knorr-Bremse Group is a manufacturer of braking systems for rail and commercial vehicles. Other lines of business in its rail vehicle sector include automatic door systems, air conditioning systems, control components, windscreen wiper systems, and platform screen doors.
