LIRR receives narrowband locomotive radios

The same radio is future upgradeable to the accepted Class I railroad digital transmission standard, referred to as NXDN Digital. The FCC established a January 2013 deadline for radio users to switch from wideband analog technology to narrowband analog or very narrowband digital radio technology.
