Trainyard Tech, LLC has configured its CLASSMASTER™ Process Control System (PCS) into a hybrid system for an eastern Class I to simultaneously provide humping and flat switching in a railcar classification yard.

The railroad has begun humping railcars on four of its seven railyard track groups, while continuing to flat switch on the remaining groups using one CLASSMASTER™ Process Control System. “This represents the latest innovation from Trainyard Tech, LLC, creators of OSX™ Technology, switch and track occupancy detection using wheel detectors,” the company said. “OSX™ Technology also provides valuable yard operation information such as speed, distance and acceleration—vital for maintaining safe separation between railcars.”

Trainyard Tech’s system also employs TyTReporter™, described as “a sophisticated railyard reporting tool customizable by the user to simplify troubleshooting and analyze yard trends by quickly drilling down to individual railcars or yard devices. Reviewing Up-to-the-minute historical performance graphs helps predict and prevent maintenance issues.”
