Railinc Corp. has been named as one of ‘2021 Best Places to Work in IT’ by tech media company IDG’s Insider Pro and Computerworld. This award recognized the 100 top organizations “that challenge their IT staffs while providing great benefits and compensation.”

“It’s an honor to be recognized as a Best Place to Work in IT, particularly at a time when we have had to remain so connected and resilient in the face of unprecedented challenges,” said Railinc President and CEO Allen West. “What kept Railinc grounded through these unusual times is our commitment to our company values and our culture, both based on results, collaboration and service. It is deeply satisfying to see those values and our hard work this past year celebrated with this award, and our entire organization is celebrating this accomplishment with great pride.”

Exactly 100 companies are recognized through the Best Places to Work in IT list and ranked based on organization size. Railinc was ranked fourth among small organizations, defined as companies with fewer than 1,000 U.S. employees. Railinc was also included in the overall top 10 for career development ranking, placing fifth for the opportunities the organization provides its staff to further their careers. All organizations will be included in coverage on IDGInsiderPro.com and Computerworld.com, along with results from the 2021 Best Places to Work in IT survey.

Railinc said its Cary, N.C.-based office employs roughly 250 full-time staff members and boasts a retention rate among its IT employee population of roughly 92%. “Railinc leads across industries in the Agile development methodology, which allows the organization to excel in making innovative, compelling and consequential IT products for the North American railroad industry,” the company said. “Flexible scheduling, an emphasis on collaboration and a comprehensive benefits and wellness program that has garnered the attention of the Healthiest Employers in the Triangle award program for several years are just a few of the signature experiences Railinc employees are able to take advantage of.”

“Despite the overwhelming obstacles the pandemic has created for many businesses, IT has managed to thrive, and in fact become more essential in the workplace,” said Kate Hoy, Editor of Insider Pro.“Attracting and retaining top IT talent to research, deploy and maintain technology has never been more critical. Companies that have earned a spot on the Insider Pro and Computerworld 2021 Best Places to Work in IT list have been able to foster nimble and flexible work environments, while continuing to keep competitive compensation and benefits steady. Additionally, they foster a spirit of diversity, social responsibility, training and innovation.”

The Best Places to Work in IT list is an annual ranking of the top 100 work environments for technology professionals by Insider Pro and Computerworld. The list is compiled based on a comprehensive questionnaire regarding company offerings in categories such as benefits, career development, training and retention. In addition, IDG conducts extensive surveys of IT workers, and their responses factor heavily in determining the rankings.
