Construction work will be completed in phases to limit pedestrian obstructions, and work will not disrupt passenger rail service, NCTD said. The work is expected to last through the month.
NCTD said that once the project is completed, "wayside horn technology will warn vehicles and pedestrians of approaching trains at the Coast Blvd. rail crossing and alleviate the requirement of trains to sound their horn as they approach the crossing."
NTCD's Coaster rail service and Amtrak San Diegan trains traverse the crossing.
