MTA spokespeople said Michael O'Brien, on the job for two months, was killed by a piece of falling concrete while working in the vicinity of Grand Central Terminal. O’Brien was an employee for Madrid, Spain-based Dragados y Construcciones, S.A., a contractor working on the project. O’Brien’s father, a foreman at the site, was working alongside him at the time.
In a statement, MTA said, “The Metropolitan Transportation Authority wishes to extend its deepest condolences to Mr. O’Brien’s family and his fellow workers.”
