PATH closed the underground train station on Sunday to assess the situation. Track 2 of the three-track stub-end station remained closed on Monday morning. New Jersey Transit added buses on its Hoboken to New York #126 route, pledging to honor PATH SmartCards for those opting for bus travel. But passengers using trains bound for either 33rd Street or the World Trade Center experienced minimal delays.
Revisiting the station Monday afternoon, Railway Age found all three tracks at PATH's Hoboken Station (adjacent to and underneath Hoboken Terminal) were operational, with the evening rushhour proceeding fairly normally.
The incident did not involve one of PATH’s new PA-5 consists. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
