Kansas City will mail ballots to the certified voters on Oct. 30 and must receive them back by Dec. 11. Though 730 people had filed applications for the vote, the actual voter pool must still be certified, which could result in fewer participants.
Last summer a majority of 555 voters approved the creation of the Downtown Streetcar Transportation Development District, the first of two steps involved in the possible establishment of a streetcar line.
Kansas City voters citywide have pondered several proposals for streetcars and/or light rail transit in the past decade, rejecting most of the ballot initiatives.
