A groundbreaking ceremony will be held Friday for the the last segment of the 10.5-mile I-225 light rail transit line extending through Aurora, Colo.

Denver's Regional Transportation District will host the ceremony at its City Center Station in Aurora. The extension will traverse Aurora on its way to Denver, connect ingthe existing Southeast Light Rail Line at the Nine Mile Station and the planned East Rail Line at the Peoria/Smith Station.

A stop is planned near the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, which includes a new VA hospital serving 60,000 military veterans and families.
