In Salt Lake City, TRAX shines as snow falls Lyndon Henry

Significant snow blanketed Salt Lake City Sunday amidst the 12th National Light Rail Conference being held by the American Public Transportation Association (APTA)—and Salt Lake City's own TRAX LRT system reportedly has performed well.

Transportation analyst and Railway Age blogger Lyndon Henry reports the "Siemens short S-70s [were] valiantly pushing" through snow conditions, and the cars, despite the snow challenge, "seems a good performer."

Utah Transit Authority is co-hosting the conference, the theme of which, APTA says, is addressing "the greatest deficiency of transit in modern America: the failure to connect Americans to jobs, which now overwhelmingly are in the suburbs."

UTA expects to extend its TRAX LRT service to Salt Lake City International Airport on April 14, 2013.
