Customers making ticket reservations on VIA's Quebec City-Montreal-Toronto-Windsor corridor will now receive an e-boarding pass via e-mail, the company said. With the pass, travelers will be e-mailed their boarding information with a bar code. Passengers simply present the barcode straight from their mobile device or a printed version to an employee at the boarding gate, along with government-issued photo ID.

For passengers, the e-boarding pass means one less pre-boarding step and a more comfortable travel experience. Once a ticket is purchased, VIA Rail automatically sends a purchase receipt and e-boarding pass in separate emails to the traveler.
