The three-year contract has a maximum value of $7 million, with an option to extend the duration and increase the value of the contract, Jacobs said.
Jacobs is to provide a variety of services in the areas of rail engineering, planning, operations support, equipment evaluation and procurement, program and project management, construction management and inspection, alternative project delivery, value engineering, cost estimating, cost/benefit analysis, risk analysis/management, and other professional services as required by the WSDOT's Rail Office.
WSDOT has been active in expanding and improving both freight and passenger rail operations in the state. The WSDOT website lists 21 freight rail projects it is pursuing. WSDOT also oversees Amtrak Cascades service and participation in the Pacific Northwest Rail Corridor, designated by the Federal Railroad Administration as one of 11 national high speed and higher-speed passenger rail routes.
Jacobs Group Vice President Kevin McMahon stated, "We are delighted to receive this award, and look forward to continuing our support of WSDOT in the long-term delivery of its capital rail projects."
