PB lands HrSR construction services contract

The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) has awarded an on-call contract to Parsons Brinckerhoff (a Balfour Beatty company) for construction services in support of the agency’s efforts to implement accelerated rail services along the higher-speed rail (HrSR) corridor between Chicago and Pontiac/Detroit.

The contract calls for Parsons Brinckerhoff to assist MDOT in overseeing the railroad construction upgrade program. The effort is expected to include construction engineering, inspection, office technician work, and general project management services.

Amtrak owns a portion of the Chicago-Pontiac/Detroit HrSR corridor. GE Transportation’s ITCS (Incremental Train Control System) PTC techno,ogy is employed on a segment of the line to enable maximum operating speeds of 110 mph.
