LaHood tours Siemens plant, reiterates HSR support

Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood toured the Siemens Mobility plan in South Sacrmento, Calif., on Wednesday, extolling it as an example of how U.S. workers can provide quality manufactured goods.

Siemens USA, headquartered in Washington, D.C. is the American division of Munich, Germany-based Siemens AG.

LaHood also reiterated the Obama Administration's support for the 700-mile California High Speed Rail project, currently under fire from several quarters. "We're committed, with the leadership of Gov. [Jerry] Brown, to begin the process of high speed rail in the Central Valley, in Fresno," LaHood said.

LaHood also scheduled a tour of the Sacramento Railyards project, which includes Sacramento Station, already served by Amtrak and envisioned as one stop for the state's HSR network.
