The $850 million project spans 45 miles and serves seven stations, linking Salt Lake City and Provo, Utah. UTA broke ground on the FrontRunner South project in August 2008.
"Yet again an excited day for Provo, for transportation," said Provo Mayor John Curtis to local media. "This is economic development, it's quality of life, it's good for our environment, just on many levels this is a good thing for Provo."
Existing FrontRunner service, which began in April 2008, extends from Salt Lake City Central Station north roughly 43 miles to Ogden Intermodal Transit Center.
