Ramsey, Minn., station boosts Northstar ridership

Written by

Ramsey, Minn., has contributed rail riders in excess of initial projections of 100 per day to overall Northstar commuter numbers, according to Metro Transit.

Metro Transit says February monthly ridership rose 13.7% compared with February 2012, with ridership showing strength on bad-weather days.

Besides the opening of the Ramsey Station, reduced fares, in effect since Aug. 1, also have contributed to ridership gains, Metro Transit says.

The 41-mile Northstar Line opened in November 2009, and currently operates from Big Lake, Minn., to Target Field in Minneapolis, where it interfaces with Hiawatha Line light rail transit service.
