Railinc now has a full series of town hall meetings and a training schedule for the new Umler Equipment Management Information System (Umler/EMIS). The meetings begin in June and will be held in Atlanta, Chicago, and Dallas. Live online webinars are scheduled to begin in late May. Registration for the town hall meetings and webinars is now open on the Railinc website at To register, select the event schedule and follow the links. There is no fee to participate.

A new system means there is much to learn. Many resources are now available online, such as the user guide, data spec manual, web demos, and the Umler/EMIS sandbox—just for starters. User training for Umler/EMIS also includes a ‘go-guide’ to help users get ready for the system; web demos covering key system functions; training webinars; and other critical reference materials.”

McDonald says that, although critical milestones remain before the system can be implemented, Umler/EMIS is on-track and on-target for launch on July 25, 2009.
