Railway Age’s Short Line of the Year—in miniature

Written by

Carson, Calif.-based model railroad manufacturer Athearn will be offering three differently numbered HO-scale (1/87th) models of Pacific Harbor Line’s MotivePower-supplied MP20C-3 road switcher locomotive. Expected to be available in November 2009, these models are highly detailed, high-quality miniature versions of the 14 units, rebuilt from SD40s and SD45s, that PHL operates. They’re being produced to commemorate Railway Age naming PHL as its 2008 Short Line of the Year. Athearn says it “is proud to present models of these unique and striking locomotives as they now operate, in an historic Santa Fe-inspired tiger stripe paint scheme.”
