New Affiliate, Associate members join AAR

The Association of American Railroads last month added one new Railroad Affiliate Member and four new Associate Members.

Virginia Railway Express has joined the AAR as a new Railroad Affiliate member. VRE provides commuter rail service from the Northern Virginia suburbs to Alexandria, Crystal City and downtown Washington, D.C., along the I-66 and I-95 corridors.

Encana Natural Gas Inc. has joined the AAR as a Gold Associate Member. Encana Corp., a North American energy producer, and its subsidiary Encana Natural Gas Inc., offer a complete suite of fit-for-purpose compressed natural gas (CNG) and liquefied natural gas (LNG) fueling solutions available to a variety of industries.

Abtrex Industries has joined the AAR as a new Silver Associate Member. Abtrex Industries specializes in corrosion and abrasion-resistant fabrications, linings, and coatings across multiple industries.

Strato, Inc. has joined the AAR as a new Silver Associate Member. Strato, Inc. manufactures, develops, and engineers a variety of products for freight cars, locomotives, and transit vehicles for the railroad and transit industries. Among them are air hoses and fitings, brake cylinders, gladhands, and MU hose fittings.

United Wagon Company, LLC has joined the AAR as a new Silver Associate Member. UWC’s strategic objective is the creation of an integrated provider of railway services in Russia and CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States), combining rolling stock manufacturing and operating leases in conjunction with engineering and servicing capabilities.

In addition, Kenneth B. Hillblom of First Union Rail Corporation has been selected by the Associate Advisory Board to fill the vacant seat on AAR’s Arbitration & Rules Committee and to serve out the remainder of the seat's term, ending Jan. 1, 2014.
