Kevin R. Collins joins HNTB

Kevin R. Collins, PE, has joined HNTB Corp. as Project Director and Vice President. Collins brings two decades of transportation industry experience, focusing on delivery of passenger rail projects, including light rail, commuter rail, and streetcar projects, several in excess of $100 million.

Collins is based in the firm’s Bellevue, Wash., office and currently serves as Project Director for the Sound Transit East Link Light Rail Extension, an eight-mile, $800 million extension of Sound Transit’s existing light rail system in Bellevue and Redmond, Wash.

Collins is a registered professional engineer who graduated with a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from Northeastern University. He also received a Certificate in Project Management from the University of Washington. With experience as a project manager, engineering manager, integration manager, quality control/assurance engineer, track engineer, safety certification engineer, and value engineer, Collins specializes in the intricacies of delivering large, multidisciplinary, multi-jurisdictional transit projects in all phases of project development.

Collins is active in the American Public Transportation Association and participated in the Leadership APTA class of 2008. He is a former American Road and Transportation Builders Association Young Executive Development Program fellow. Prior to joining HNTB, he was Transit Business Class Manager and Senior Project Manager for HDR Engineering, Inc., most recently serving as Design Project Manager and Engineer of Record for the South 200th Street Link Extension for Sound Transit. The $200 million, 1.6-mile elevated light rail extension is Sound Transit’s first design-build project.
