Wabtec Corp.’s Wabtec Rail subsidiary in Doncaster, England, has been awarded a $9 million contract to build 24 remote-radio-control High Output Ballast Wagons for Irish Rail for delivery in 2010. During the past ten years, Wabtec Rail has built more than 250 of these m/w hoppers for the U.K. market. The new units will include components from Wabtec subsidiaries Becorit, POLI-MZT, and Standard Car Truck.

“This project demonstrates Wabtec’s capabilities for manufacturing specialty cars and the breadth of our product portfolio,” said Wabtec President and CEO Albert J. Neupaver.
