Traktionssysteme Austria adds U.S. office

Traktionsysteme Austria (TSA), a supplier of rail vehicle propulsion system components, has established a U.S. presence with Traction Systems, Inc., which will directly serve customers in North America.

TSA previously has offered support services and traction motors from its Wiener Neudorf, Austria headquarters; its U.S. main office is in Somerville, N.J., headed by President Bill Umbenhaur.

U.S. customers have included New Jersey Transit, Austin, Tex.'s Capital Metropolitan Transportation Authority, Denton County Transportation Authority (also in Texas), Phoenix Valley Metro, and Seattle's Sound Transit .

Traction Systems, Inc. will allow the TSA to provide rail vehicles manufacturers with state-of-the-art designs and technology, while meeting Buy America requirements, the company said.
