CN selects Wi-Tronix for locomotive fleet

Written by

Wi-Tronix, LLC said Tuesday it has secured a contract with Canadian National wherein CN will install Wi-Tronix systems on its locomotive fleet, including new locomotive purchases and retrofitting of its existing fleet with Wi-PU's.

Wi-Tronix says its system provides CN with the benefits of ready access to locomotive on-board data, fuel conservation monitoring, and improved fleet productivity.

In 2007 Wi-Tronix was selected as CN's preferred remote monitoring solutions provider, with more than 700 systems "applied on CN's newest

EMD SD70M-2 and GE ES44DC and recently rebuilt GP38-2 locomotives," the company said. CN will continue to use Wi-Tronix's Wi-Trackerâ„¢ to maximize both locomotive asset utilization and fuel efficiency.

Wi-Tracker offers statistics on utilization, engine shut down and

duty cycle, fuel monitoring, locomotive fault and exception-based alerting, and geo-mapping, among other services. In addition, Wi-DownloadER provides remote access to download locomotive on-board data from any locomotive, any time, at any location, the company says.
