"Rich is the perfect person to take on this responsibility," said William F. Matts, P.E., executive vice president, and chief operating officer of STV's Transportation & Infrastructure Division. "He combines the right mixture of intense client focus and approachable manner that is needed to run a practice of this size."
Amodei joined STV in 1999 and has aided STV's role in the public transportation markets as director of business development for North America. The Northeast Region provides multidisciplinary services, including planning, civil/bridge design, rail system design, resident engineering and inspection and construction/project management for an array of public and private clients, STV said.
STV's Northeast Region has overseen numerous large assignments, including Amtrak's Hudson Yards Gateway project and the Long Island Rail Road's East Side Access project.
For his part, Amodei has overseen projects that include the Delaware River Port Authority's $1.5 billion Glassboro to Camden Light Rail Line and Riverside County Transportation Commission's $248 million Perris Valley Line. Amodei is also responsible for STV's entrance into the Canadian marketplace with projects that include the preliminary engineering and project management of the $2.1 billion Ottawa Confederation Line light rail transit project, project management for the Toronto Transit Commission's LRT expansion, and the new $200 million Eglinton Vehicle Maintenance Facility for Greater Toronto's Metrolinx.
Amodei serves as a board member for the American Public Transportation Association, ENO Center for Transportation, Pentrans, and the Southern New Jersey Development Council. He also is a member of the New Jersey Alliance for Action.
