Rail and Transit Engineering Faculty Position

Penn Altoona College invites applications for a faculty position as a Tenure-Track or a Fixed-Term Multi-Year, or a Fixed-Term 1-Year, depending on qualifications, in Rail and Transit Engineering (rank open) beginning Fall 2014.  The preferred qualifications for this position include an earned Ph.D. in Engineering with substantial experience in the railway engineering industry, and a track record of related scholarly activities.  The successful candidate must have the vision and ability to direct the implementation of a new Rail and Transit Engineering curriculum, and will be expected to develop courses in one or more of the following areas: rail construction and maintenance, railroad operation and safety, rail communications and signals, and railroad industry overview and economic regulation. 

Located in the beautiful Allegheny Mountains of central Pennsylvania, Penn State Altoona is a largely residential campus of 4000 students offering 20 baccalaureate degree programs and the first two years of more than 160 Penn State baccalaureate degrees.  Degree offerings at Penn State Altoona will continue to expand.  Only 40 miles from the University Park campus, Penn State Altoona College offers the advantages of small college teaching with the readily available resources of a major research university.
