MTA NYC Transit (NYCT) serves more than 5 million subway customers and 2.5 million bus customers on an average weekday. Its 48,000 employees provide mass transit and paratransit service throughout the five boroughs of New York City, including operating almost 6,400 subway cars at 472 stations.

The NYC Transit Department of Subways Division of Elevators & Escalators is responsible for the maintenance, repair and inspection of 270 Elevators and 191 Escalators. The Division of Elevators & Escalators is seeking experienced talent to supervise and manage for the division’s elevator & escalator maintainer workforce. The selected candidate will be responsible for managing maintenance, inspection and repair operations, including emergency response for Elevators & Escalators equipment installed in stations and buildings in one of four zones that encompass New York City Transit. The duties will include, but are not limited to: ensuring a safe and efficient implementation of the unit’s maintenance and repair plans and the prompt response to customer accidents and entrapments during off-tour; managing off-tour operations within his/her assigned zone, including planning, labor relations, human resources, material management and safety. Additional duties include: meeting operational requirements for availability, reliability and safety. The selected candidate must be prepared to react/respond to emergencies and other critical occurrences as required, 24 hours/7 days a week.

Candidates who possess a thorough knowledge of electro-mechanical equipment repair; strong knowledge of project management and maintenance management techniques; NYC Transit budgeting practices; material procurement procedures, other subway divisions; safety rules and labor contracts are encouraged to apply.

Education and Experience Requirements:
A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in electrical or mechanical engineering, and five years of full-time related experience, of which two (2) years must have been in a managerial/supervisory/administrative capacity; OR a satisfactory combination of education and experience.
