STARTING SALARY: $31.3884 per hour for a 40-hour work week. This position offers paid vacation, holiday and sick leave; overtime and night differential; comprehensive health benefits; a pension plan; and, a free transportation/commuter pass.

JOB DUTIES: Under supervision, maintain, inspect, test, examine, lubricate, troubleshoot, and make repairs and adjustments on any part of the NYC Transit Authority’s multiple-unit subway cars and subway service cars located throughout the system, in car shops, terminals and yards.

REQUIREMENTS:

(1) Three years of full-time experience as a Journey-Level Mechanic (fully trained and competent)maintaining and repairing large heavy-duty electromechanical equipment and/or machinery; OR
(2) Two years of the above full-time experience, plus the completion of one of the following listed below before obtaining this experience:
(a) Two years of full-time experience as a mechanic’s helper, apprentice or trainee performing electromechanical work; OR
(b) Graduation from a recognized vocational high school, or trade or technical school, with a major course of study in electromechanical, electrical or electronic technology, with at least 600 hours; OR
(c) Associate Degree in Applied Science, or a higher degree in electromechanical, electrical or electronic technology.
