Transportation Technology Center, Inc. has an immediate opening for an Economist. This position is responsible for performing all economic analysis needed by the following, as directed by the Chief Economist: AAR Technical Committees, Strategic Research Program, including Cost Benefit Analysis (CBA) required for Association of American Railroads (AAR) Technical rule changes, and the Strategic Research Program. As directed by the Chief Economist, the Economist will perform any or all tasks required by the both the Locomotive Repair Billing Committee and the Car Repair Billing Committee, including but not limited to: conduct quarterly price survey, update pricing formulas to comply with AAR Committee rule changes, maintain the time standards used in Locomotive and/or Car Repair Billing, and conduct the annual overhead study. In addition, the Economist will assist in performing the post audit “look back” described by the AAR Cost Benefit Analysis Procedure. From time to time, other special requests for economic analysis may be requested on an ad-hoc basis. All analyses should be precise, accurate, correct, and strictly follow the written guidelines. Travel requirements will range from 5% to 10%.
B.S. degree in engineering, business, mathematics, or a related discipline, masters preferred. A minimum of five (5) years of experience in railroad financial analysis is required. Preferably the top candidate will have experience with AAR Interchange rules, knowledge of railroad operations and maintenance, AAR billing and the AAR Office Manual.
