MTA New York City Transit, the largest public transportation in North America, has an exciting opportunity for an executive transportation professional as its Assistant Chief Maintenance Officer, Car Equipment Engineering & Technical Support. Car Equipment’s goals are to support NYC Transit’s mission to provide a safe, convenient, comfortable, reliable, cost-effective, responsive, and customer-oriented public transportation system.
The selected candidate will be overseeing the direction for all capital contract administration and engineering activities for the new car (both revenue and non-revenue) procurement program as well as continuing design improvements and contract administration for the overhaul program for the existing car fleet. This position is also responsible for directing the development of technical specifications for car design, review and analysis, inspection, testing and reliability tracking to maximize safety, reliability, and maintainability and performance efficiency. Develop and establish strategies to improve the performance of the fleet, in order to provide safe reliable transit service. The incumbent will ensure Car Equipment’s material requirements are communicated to the Division of Material ensuring quality maintenance materials are available. The incumbent will direct timely investigations of all safety related railcar/shop equipment incidents and provide accurate and accessible information. Disseminate accurate engineering/technical documents and well-documented standards and procedures for fleet maintenance such as record drawings, schematics, engineering Bills of Materials, work and overhaul repair manuals. The incumbent will also participate in the decision making process of APTA, outside transit associations/agencies on transit related issues and railcar consortium (NYRCC) forming professional networks and sources to resolve issues and exchange information and is also required to be "on-call" 24 hours per day, 7 days per week to respond on direct Car Equipment efforts during major service disruptions.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration or a related field and twenty years of experience including a minimum of fifteen years in a managerial or supervisory capacity; or a satisfactory equivalent of education and experience.
