Union Pacific announced Friday that UP and UPS achieved a "perfect peak season" in 2011 by delivering 100% of UPS peak-season freight without a service failure.

"Our goal is to always provide UPS with flawless service, and that is especially important during peak season," said John Kaiser, Union Pacific vice president and general manager-Intermodal. "The combination of Union Pacific's fast and reliable rail service and UPS's premier package delivery network allowed consumers and businesses to enjoy a worry-free holiday season."

During the 2011 peak season, which begins the Tuesday after Thanksgiving and ends Christmas Eve, UP said it delivered "thousands of UPS containers and trailers carrying hundreds of packages each, many specifically for the holidays."
