TTX’s Adcock to address The New Intermodal Age

Written by

TTX Co. AVP-Marketing Frank Adcock will outline the challenges of "Managing the national equipment pool" at The New Intermodal Age Conference and Expo, to be held next week, April 2-3, 2013, at the Hyatt Regency Baltimore on the Inner Harbor, Baltimore, Md.

The two-day conference will include speakers from the maritime shipping lines, port operators, railroads, and state and federal government, among others. The conference is co-sponsored by Railway Age and its sister publication, Marine Log. Adcock's presentation will take place Wednesday, April 3.

Among other rail industry speakers on the agenda: Conrail Shared Assets President and Chief Operating Officer Ron Batory, Tuesday's keynote speaker, and Railway Age Contributing Editor Frank N. Wilner.

A Tuesday panel, "Successful public-private partnerships," includes Ports America President and CEO Mark Montgomery, joined by Donald B. Hutton, managing director, New York New Jersey Rail, LLC, which operates the rail float across New York Harbor—symbolic of the interconnecting between marine and rail operations.

Intermodal is the fastest-growing method of ground transportation in North America. With revenue topping those of traditionally strong railroad commodities such as coal, intermodal represents a dramatic and permanent sea-change in how freight is handled and transported by rail, by ship, and by truck.
