"This new track was completed with Port of Stockton funds and project management provided by the CCT," the port said in a statement. "Project construction was performed by H&H Engineering of Stockton and was completed on time and within budget.
"The new trackage will support the M580 Marine Highway project at the Port of Stockton along with providing a complete 21,000 foot loop on the West Complex. This new track will tie into the existing two 6,000 foot on-dock tracks, which provides direct cargo discharge from vessel to rail. Along with support to load containers on rail cars for the M580 project, this new trackage allows for two wind generation component trains to be staged and loaded at one time," the port said.
"This new trackage gives the Port of Stockton the longest on-dock direct vessel to rail discharge tracks on the West Coast. This improves the loading and discharging velocity of wind generation components to rail cars for movement in or out of the Port of Stockton," the port said.
