Indiana Rail Road President and CEO Tom Hoback has announced key promotions in senior management, along with expanded duties in the railroad's marketing department.

Mike Engel has been promoted to the newly created position of senior vice president and chief financial officer. Engel will continue to be responsible for all accounting management and financial functions as well as corporate administration and government relations. He will also continue as corporate secretary. A 22-year veteran with Indiana Rail Road, Engel was vice president and chief accounting officer.

Bob Babcock has been elevated to another new position, senior vice president of Operations and Business Development. Babcock will oversee all non-energy related marketing development while also directing economic development and operations of the railroad. Babcock has led operations at Indiana Rail Road since March 2006, and previously worked at Santa Fe Railway and CSX Transportation.

Hoback also noted Eric Powell has moved from the company's government affairs department to the marketing department, and with the new title and responsibilities of manager, Intermodal and Economic Development. Powell will report to Babcock and will continue to manage the company's corporate communications.

Indianapolis-based Indiana Rail Road Co., founded in 1986, was named the 2012 Railway Age Regional Railroad of the Year.
