SEPTA receives Ritron digital locomotive radios

Carmel, Ind.-based Ritron, Inc. said Tuesday, June 11, 2013 it has delivered an order for 350 pieces of the Ritron NXDN digital locomotive radios to the Southeast Pennsylvania Transit Authority (SEPTA).

The radios are Ritron's single-piece, NXDN digital capable model. The order included both 72VDC powered radios and 36VDC powered radios. The FCC mandated a technology change to narrowband technology more than10 years ago, Ritron said, adding that its locomotive radio is designed and built in the U.S.

Ritron, Inc. notes that SEPTA is the 6th-largest U.S. rapid transit system by ridership, and the 5th-largest overall U.S. transit system.
