Fairport, N.Y.-based RailComm says SaaS provides a "pay-as-you-go" model, thus eliminating capital equipment procurement constraints. Through this delivery method, railroads can be remotely dispatched by LS&I wherever an Internet connection is available. It is now possible to relocate dispatchers to alternate locations, if the need arises. LS&I management members can log in remotely to view dispatching activities and obtain management reports.
Since the DOC® control application resides on servers within the RailComm-managed data center in Rochester, N.Y., the requirement for local IT support at the railroad is greatly reduced, RailComm says.
