Invensys given subcontract for NYCT signals

Written by

Invensys Rail says it will serve as a subcontractor to Five Star Electric Corp. in a project to replace two rail interlockings for MTA New York City Transit.

The interlockings are located at 71st-Continental Ave. in Queens, used by NYCT's E, F, M, and R subway lines, and Van Wyck Blvd., also in Queens, used by the E and F.

Invensys' portion of the project includes the interlocking control systems, associated wayside signal work and a redundant PLC Code System. Upon completion, the new interlocking control systems will be CBTC [Communications-Based Train Control] ready.

Invensys says it will engineer and manufacture equipment for four signal rooms with controls, racks and relay equipment plus wayside signals and enclosures. In addition, the company will provide field testing, commissioning, and training support for the equipment and systems it supplies. Invensys' portion of the $167 million project will total $41.9 million.
