The first work order is a power system upgrade that involves the factory design, furnishing, installation, testing, and commissioning of three 1.5 megawatt traction power substations. The project includes work on the associated electrical and overhead contact system. The lump sum for the negotiated work is more than $8.8 million.
The second work order, the Elati North Yard Expansion project, is an $8 million contract. It entails factory design through commissioning of one 3 megawatt substation and the installation, testing, and commissioning of one RTD-furnished 1.5 megawatt substation. Balfour Beatty Rail will also handle the associated system-wide electrical and overhead contact system work for both substations, as well as enhancements to the yard signal system.
“We anticipate these work orders to be the first of many,” said Joe Reed, Balfour Beatty Rail’s vice president of Transit. “We look forward to a long and successful partnership with RTD as we break ground on these projects.”
