ASLRRA installs new board leadership

The American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association (ASLRRA) installed Judy Petry, president and general manager of Farmrail System, as its new chairman. Peter Claussen, Jr., president of the Gulf & Ohio Railways, was selected as the new vice-chairman of the association, filling the role Petry previously held.

The National Railroad Construction and Maintenance Association (NRC) has selected the winners of its 2015 Field Employee of the Year and Project of the Year awards, which will be recognized at the 2016 NRC Conference in San Diego, Calif.

The National Railroad Construction and Maintenance Association, Inc. (NRC), elected two new members to its Board of Directors and released the winners of the 2015 NRC/RT&S Contractor and Safety Awards.

GREX elevates Grissom

Georgetown Rail Equipment Company (GREX) on Oct. 21, 2015 promoted Greg Grissom to Chief Operating Officer/Executive Vice President Customer Delivery. Grissom previously served as Vice President Engineering.

Tuesday's breakout sessions at the AREMA Conference included a whopping 11 presentations around the ever-import subject matter of structures.

AREMA: Talking about talking cargo

Tuesday's technical program breakout sessions, as part of the AREMA Conference 2015, included 10 presentations from experts in the business of moving people, sometimes referred to by railroaders as "Talking cargo.”

Maintenance-minded folks at the AREMA Conference gathered throughout the day October 6 to soak up 10 informative presentations revolving around maintaining the world's railroads, which is no small task.

Part two of the Student Program, part of the AREMA Conference at Railway Interchange 2015, proved to be a huge success this year. The volume of students attending both the panel discussion and networking event was considerably larger than in years past. This is just one indication of the growing opportunity and increasing interest for young engineers in this industry.

On October 5 at Railway Interchange 2015, Siemens introduced RailFusion, a software solution that monitors and analyzes data points across an entire railroad's infrastructure, including onboard and wayside assets, such as road crossings and end-of-train devices.
