Falls Church, Va.-based ENSCO, Inc. said Wednesday Amtrak has selected for use the company's TrackIT(r) Track Chart Management System. The web-based system hosts Amtrak's official track charts and provides them as high quality PDF digital copies or hard copies.

Greenwich, Conn.-based Genesee & Wyoming Inc. Monday said its August traffic volume fell 4.5% measured against the same month a year ago, with third-quarter 2012 traffic to date down 5.2%.
Excluding 2,932 carloads from GWI railroads acquired within the last 12 months, same-railroad traffic in August 2012 decreased 8.7% compared with August 2011, the company said.
Farm & food products traffic decreased 3,318 carloads primarily due to reduced shipments in GWI's Australia and Illinois Regions. The shipment decline in the Australia Region was primarily due to an accelerated shipping schedule earlier in 2012, as well as a mechanical failure at an export grain terminal in Adelaide, South Australia. The farm & food products shipment decline in the Illinois Region was primarily due to elevated traffic in 2011 associated with carloads diverted around flooding in the Midwest.
GWI said its other commodity group traffic decreased primarily due to no overhead coal shipments in GWI's Ohio Region.
Dallas Area Rapid Transit is expected to select Brookville Equipment Corp. to provide two modern streetcars for the proposed Oak Cliff streetcar project. DART's Board of Directors may make the decision sometime this month. Preliminary approval by a DART oversight committee for a contract totaling about $9.4 million may occur this week.

Dallas-based Trinity Industries, Inc. late Thursday announced it will purchase 665,000 square feet of heavy manufacturing capacity from DMI Industries, a subsidiary of Fargo, N.D.-based Otter Tail Corp., for $20 million. The facilities are located in West Fargo, N.D., Tulsa, Okla., and Fort Erie, Ontario.
