MTA NYC Transit, the largest public transportation organization in North America has several exciting opportunities for experienced Safety professionals to become General Superintendents, Safety & Environmental Management.
This position is responsible for administering and coordinating all safety activities and programs at a facility. Such responsibilities include daily facility walkthroughs, to ensure that all safety procedures are in place and being adhered to. The selected candidate will work with the Department of Buses’ Chief Safety Officer and the Office of System Safety, to implement a Safety Action Plan that will promote a safe environment for employees and contractors. The incumbent will also be responsible for administering and coordinating facility environmental management; employee safety training; depot self-audits; and monthly management/labor safety meetings. Collaborates with labor unions and regulatory agencies to address safety concerns. Responds to, documents and follows up with injury on duty incidents at facilities and on the road. In addition to the safety functions, the selected candidate may assume the duties of other General Superintendents, Safety & Environmental Management in their absence. The individual may be assigned to more than one work location. This position requires flexible availability, including non-business hours, weekends, holidays and is subject to call 24/7.
Requirements: Eight years of related safety experience including a minimum of five years of supervisory/managerial experience; or a satisfactory equivalent of education and experience.
