In 1996, New Jersey Transit entered into a public-private partnership for the Hudson-Bergen LRT and awarded the $1.1 billion contract to a team led by URS.

The value of the contract has more than doubled since then with the current HBLR system consisting of 19.23 miles of track and 24 stations serving 7 cities in Hudson County from Bayonne to North Bergen. It is the largest public works program in New Jersey history and the largest transit DBOM in the United States.

A Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from a four-year accredited college or university is necessary. Incumbent will posses 10+ years total engineering experience with at least 3 years in a supervisory capacity. A minimum of 7 years rail/transit industry experience in an electrical engineering or operations/ Maintenance capacity is required.
