CSX re-opens Chicago Locomotive Shop CSX on Dec. 18, 2014 celebrated the re-opening of the Chicago Locomotive Shop at Barr Yard in Riverdale, Ill. The historic facility, which had been shut down in 1992, reopened in November 2104 following significant upgrades and will be fully operational in February 2015. CSX said it “will improve operational efficiency throughout the western and northern segments of our network.”
