RAILROAD ENGINEERING POSITIONS

Several opportunities from Staff Engineer to Project Engineer to Project Manager are available at Patrick Engineering, Inc. Candidates must be familiar with AREMA manual for railway engineering and possess an understanding for railway operations. Position requires preparation of technical reports and plans, specifications and estimates. Responsibilities will include some field work and willingness to travel on project assignments.

CIVIL ENGINEERS with progressive railroad experience in railroad track layout for mainlines, spurs, loops and construction engineering.

STRUCTURAL ENGINEERS with progressive railroad experience in steel and concrete bridge design and construction engineering.

The Successful engineering candidates must possess a BSCE and should have 4-8 years of progressive and relevant experience in the civil or structural engineering disciplines. REGIONAL SALES MANAGER

    SUPERINTENDENT — STRUCTURE MAINTENANCE
    Track & Structure Department

    Reporting to the General Superintendent — Track & Structure, you are responsible for planning, managing, co-ordinating, and scheduling structure maintenance programs and activities and for supervising structure maintenance and rehabilitation work of subway, bus, LRT, yard and other related property with due regard for operational efficiency and cost effectiveness.

    Your duties include:

  • planning and directing section activities by effectively managing the section’s human resources and ensuring optimum utilization of all employees;
  • ensuring all employees are properly trained in work and safety procedures;
  • preparing, monitoring and controlling the section’s operating and capital budgets;
  • preparing various reports and documentation related to section operations and employees;
  • administering provisions of the Collective Agreement including discipline;
  • performing related duties associated with the activities of the Structure Maintenance section; and
  • supervising the work of consultants and contractors

    Annual Salary Range: $86,996.00 — $108,726.80 (Level 11) (Under Review)

    Skills/Knowledge/Experience
    You require in-depth knowledge of the heavy construction aspects of Civil Engineering, specialized knowledge of bridge and structure maintenance, maintenance and repair procedures and techniques combined with broad knowledge of related trades. You must have comprehensive knowledge of and work experience involving business administration, human resource policies and legislation/regulations regarding safety, environment, human rights, etc. You must have a working knowledge of computers and relevant computerized applications including database management systems. You must also possess sound judgement; highly developed organizational, analytical, problem solving and interpersonal skills; excellent oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to direct and motivate staff and to co-ordinate the efforts of others to accomplish objectives is required. You must have or rapidly acquire knowledge of the relevant Collective Agreement as well as TTC procurement policies and procedures. These skills and knowledge would normally be acquired by obtaining a degree in Civil Engineering, or the equivalent, combined with extensive directly related experience in a supervisory/management or professional capacity in a unionized environment.
